How It Works

The aspect ratio crop tool locks your crop selection to a chosen ratio while letting you resize it freely. Unlike fixed-size presets, you decide how much of the image to include.

Choose one of the eight ratio presets or type a custom ratio, then resize the crop box with any of its eight handles (four corners and four edges). The box stays locked to your chosen ratio as you resize, and you can drag it anywhere over the image.

Why aspect ratio matters: Different uses need different proportions. 16:9 suits video thumbnails and widescreen displays, while 4:3 fits prints and presentations. Locking the ratio during resize means the crop cannot drift out of proportion.

How to Use

Click "Choose Image" and pick a photo.

Composition Tips

The crop box shows a rule-of-thirds grid to help with composition:

Place key subjects on the grid intersections.
Align horizons with the horizontal lines.
Use the grid to balance elements in the frame.
Leave space in the direction your subject faces or moves.
